I am an actress so I am pretty confident by nature but that same confidence blinded me to a simple truth: it only takes ONE person telling you that you can't for the thorny seed of doubt to be planted deep inside your mind.
It can be crippling.
I will admit I'm not great with direction. Instead of paying attention in the car I read or dance or talk the driver's ear off. So for my entire life I was told that I am terrible with direction. When I decided to move to LA I was told that I would not be able to drive in this city. That I would get lost end up in a bad part of town and get murdered. (Maybe not those exact words but you understand)
And YES I have been turned around a few times. I got into a car accident. I forgot where my car was parked. But each if those experiences made me better. Taught me.
I am finding out more and more each day that I CAN do it. I have BEEN doing it.
Of course it doesnt hurt to have a team of wonderful Christian sisters praying for me every step of the way or to have some really great roommates who did nothing but shower me with encouragment for a solid week. It most assuredly doesn't hurt to know that God adores the living day lights out of me.
Even when I am physically lost on these LA streets.
